Sustainability

Welcoming today, mindful of tomorrow

A rich history, a greener future

At Grand Hotel De Draak, we cherish our rich history while looking to the future. We want you to enjoy comfort and warm hospitality with us, while being mindful of the world around us. That’s why we make conscious choices in our day-to-day operations and keep looking for ways to work more sustainably. Step by step, together with our employees, partners and guests. On this page, you can discover how we put this into practice.

Hotels For Trees

Where hotel guests plant trees. Hotels for Trees Foundation makes a tangible contribution to a greener world. A hotel industry where one new tree is planted for every day a guest chooses to skip housekeeping.

Mindful water use

Our toilets use up to 6 litres per flush and have a flush stop. Water-saving taps limit consumption to 7 litres per minute.

A place for every type of waste

Together with Renewi, we sort glass, paper and cardboard, electronics and residual waste.

Energy efficiency

We use light sensors, energy-efficient LED lighting and renewable electricity. By setting a minimum temperature for the air conditioning, we avoid unnecessary cooling.

Comfort with care

We partner with Blycolin for our hotel linens. They pay attention to water use, CO₂ emissions, transport and sustainable products.

Mindful care with Yon-Ka

Enjoy French skincare brand Yon-Ka’s products in your room.

Developed in collaboration with ADA Cosmetics, this collection contains at least 97% ingredients of natural origin. The formulas are certified vegan, SLS-free and dermatologically tested.

With plant-based ingredients and a delicate lavender fragrance, Yon-Ka offers a pleasant moment of care during your stay.

Cooling with character

Our awnings complement De Draak’s historic character while helping keep the hotel rooms cooler on warm days. By blocking the sun before it reaches the windows, we limit heat building up in the rooms and reduce the need for air conditioning. In the colder months, the awnings stay retracted so we can make the most of the sun’s warmth.
